GGBS

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) is a by-product of the iron manufacturing industry. As part of our commitment to supplying a best in class product, Keegan Quarries was one of the first producers to introduce GGBS. The use of GGBS is permitted by IS EN206 as a direct replacement for cement up to a maximum of 70%.

Benefits:
  • More resistant to chemical and chloride attack
  • Lower heat of hydration makes it suitable for large volume pours to reduce the risk of thermal cracking.
  • Reduction in the carbon footprint of the build which contributes to high LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) ratings.
  • Improved long term strength gain when compared to Ordinary Portland Cement.
